New Online Convenience Fee

Sharron Miller

Dear friends,

This year, SMAPA paid much more in convenience fees for online transactions than ever before. So starting in June, SMAPA will add a 3.5% convenience fee to all online transactions.

In-person payments will not be charged the additional fee.

While it is never an easy decision to add new fees, we are hopeful that with your understanding and continued support, this change will help SMAPA survive as a not-for-profit arts organization in Montclair.

If you have any questions or concerns, please email us at info@smapa.org.

SMAPA Auditions

Sharron Miller

SMAPA invites male and female dancers ages 10 and older to audition for our Performance Workshop Ensemble or Junior Performance Workshop Ensemble.

The Performance Workshop Ensemble (PWE) and Junior Performance Workshop Ensemble (JPWE) are made up of gifted and talented young SMAPA dancers with a strong background in Ballet and Modern technique. It is a one-year commitment from September 2021-September 2022. Dancers who are accepted into the program are expected to attend a free company class followed by rehearsal every Saturday afternoon where they will prepare for various performances in Montclair and surrounding towns.

PWE members receive all classes at a 25% reduced rate. PWE members also have the opportunity to serve as CITs in our summer camp programs, and as class demonstrators/teacher assistants in exchange for free dance classes.

The Junior Performance Workshop Ensemble (JPWE) was created in 2012 to give less advanced SMAPA dancers the opportunity to gain performance experience. It is not a scholarship program, although individual JPWE members often receive SMAPA merit-based scholarships. In many cases it is a stepping stone into our senior company, PWE.

Current members of PWE do not need to audition, but former JPWE members must audition if they want to move up to PWE.

To schedule an audition, email info@smapa.org.
